Over the Line and Beyond

A solo exhibition "Over the Line and Beyond" at the Kulturhaus Schwanen, it ran from the 27th of February to the 27th of March 2015 in Waiblingen Germany.

Artist Statement:

As a work medium I am interested in shibori. It is a resist dying japanese technique, by which the fabric is manipulated and squeezed in different manners. Shibori results can be complex or simple, it can be an abstract art in itself or a background or the building blocks creating anything between abstract forms to sculptured relief textile depictions.
In the exhibition I explored the space between memory and dreams, where the line is crossed and shreds of dreams and memories mix together colouring each other in each others colours, the images change, mix and mingle when some are more meaningful and clear and others diminish till they are forgotten. The exhibition plays with the line between abstract painterly and sculptural, remembered truth and reality, different aspects of memory and dreams in images as shown through dye, colour, paint and thread using shibori techniques and applique, moving between abstract images and sculptural painterly images.

By Land By Sea By Air

Wearable Art show - part of a national transportation conference in NB Canada, it was held at Brewbaker's in Fredericton on the 15.10.2012.
People's Choice award - The audience voted for the prizes in the 3 categories (Headdress, Body Adornment, Complete Outfit).
I won the Category I had an entry in the headdress category.

The show turned into an exhibition and is currently showing in Fredericton at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design.

"Air travelled, light and delicate butterflies and feathers travel across the air carried by the winds. They are the essence of light weight that is also fascinating as far as their construction patterns and colours. They can be collected and captured, and sent from one person to another, by air mail, when people live away from another. People also travel by air in a great birds that mimic the feathers that crossed the winds since the beginning of time. The hat arrives from overseas, is made into and covered in light butterflies and feathers, it has a Reproduced stamp, completely air travelled."

Ars De Centum

The exhibition ran from 9 of September to 14 of October 2011 in Memorial Hall, UNB Art Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick Canada.
It celebrated the BAA program reaching 100 graduates. In each work in the exhibition the number or concept of a 100 was embeded.

The exhibition was mentioned in the Telegraph Journal on Sep. 3rd, in the Dayily Gleaner on Sep. 20th, as well as the Fredericton Arts Alliance News on Sep. 8th (6th item).
Ars De Centum was also featured in the UNB website.

"I have chosen to combine the concept of a 100 with that of the cornerstone or a milestone. The piece marks the base of learning and the guideline that I return to in my current career and life as well as another leg in my personal journey, and my journey as a BAA graduate."

"Ars de centum translates to mean ‘art concerning, taken from or made of one hundred’. In 2010 the number of graduates from the program reached 100, a milestone in the partnership between the two post-secondary institutions. BAA graduates participating in the exhibition interpreted, through various media, the concept or physicality of one hundred. From a quantity to a rite of passage, one hundred is the central unifying idea that inspired painters, photographers, graphic designers, potters, fibre artists, sculptors, illustrators, jewelers, fashion designers and more to create one-of-a-kind gallery pieces for this exhibition. In a marriage between intellect and craft, this exhibition displays the very essence of a course of study firmly rooted in both academia and technical excellence."

Travelling Patterns: Fabrics on the Road

The exhibition ran from the 23 of June to the 4 of July 2008 in the FCA Gallery in the University of Wollongong, Australia.
It was my graduating solo exhibition for my Masters degree in the University of Wollongong, Australia.

In its working stagesit was inspired by my research topic "Interchanging Influences on the Road: Reflection on Jewish Textiles".

Tactics Against Fear - Creativity as Catharsis

The exhibition ran from the 3 to the 28 of September 2007 in the Long Gallery in the University of Wollongong, Australia.

Within the theme of tactics against fear I am interested in the paranoia
that fear tends to generate for the ordinary person as well as for all-powerful institutions.
I took the computer and explored it in relation to surveillance and paranoia,
or rather explored the question ‘Is computerised surveillance for my protection?’
